One of our goals is to ensure you're able to transfer money into and out of your accounts easily and securely. For your security, transfers are always subject to verification. When you request an ACH or wire transfer or set up a linked account to electronically transfer money, “processing” includes certain steps we may take to confirm your identity and that you own the external account(s). This is to protect your personal information and your money.

Like many banks, Marcus uses the Automated Clearing House (“ACH”) network to process ACH transfers to/from other banks, and the ACH has its own timelines for completing requests. In addition, external banks have their own policies regarding the availability of funds received via ACH transfer. For outgoing transfers, check with your external bank regarding the availability of funds sent by Marcus. For incoming transfers, see our Funds Availability policy.

Our tracker makes it easy to follow transfers whenever you set them up from within your Marcus deposit account.

Here’s how it works:

1. You schedule the transfer
2. We create the tracker
3. We add a “track my transfer” link to your dashboard

You’ll see information including the date it’s scheduled for and when we expect your funds to arrive. The link will disappear three days after we expect the transfer to be completed, but the transfer will appear in your transaction history.

Log in and select 'My account > External Accounts,' then click 'Add Account'

Choose one of the options below to link your account at another bank and verify that you have access to the account. Please note: The account must be in your name and must be owned by you (individually or jointly). In addition, you must have full right to the funds, the account must not be a business account, and your bank must be located in the US.

Option #1 – Instantly link with your login information

Instant linking lets you connect in seconds. Here’s how it works:

#1 Enter the name of your external bank and provide your login information for that bank.

#2 Our secure process uses your login information to confirm that you’re the owner of the account.

#3 We will not save or share your external account information.

Option #2 – Manually link with trial deposits

Manual linking with trial deposits can take up to three business days. Here’s how it works:

#1 Enter your external bank's routing number and account number.

#2 In 2-3 business days, Goldman Sachs Bank USA will make two small deposits (for example, $0.23 and $0.17 – your amounts may be different) into your external bank account. We’ll send you an email when the trial deposits have been deposited.

#3 Log in to your external bank’s website or app (or call your external bank). Please allow up to 3 business days.

#4 View your external bank account’s activity or transaction history and locate the two small deposits from Goldman Sachs Bank USA. Make a note of the amounts.

#5 Come back to marcus.com, log in and select 'My account > External Accounts.' Please do this within 15 days from when you provided your account information. If your trial deposits expire, you’ll need to start the linking process over.

#6 Click 'Verify trial deposit' alongside your pending external bank account

#7 Enter the two trial deposit amounts you noted from your external bank account. (You can enter them in any order, but be sure to enter the numbers exactly as they appear in your transaction history.)

#8 Click 'Submit' and your new account will be linked.

Later, Marcus will send a request to the account-holding depository institution to withdraw the trial deposit amounts. The withdrawal may appear as a single debit from your external account. For example, if the trial deposit amounts were $0.11 and $0.14, you may see one debit transaction of $0.25 or two debit transactions of $0.14 and $0.11.

To authorize the deposit of funds directly into your Marcus account, provide your employer with your Marcus account number and the Goldman Sachs Bank USA routing number for your type of account:

To deposit via a domestic wire transfer from an external bank, you’ll need to give the external bank the Goldman Sachs Bank USA Routing Transit Number, our Wire Transfer Address and your account number.

To withdraw via wire transfer to an account you own at an external bank, you can send up to $50,000 per statement period when you initiate the transfer at marcus.com. Log in and select "Make a transfer," then choose "Transfer type > Wire transfer," if available. To send more, or if the online wire transfer option isn’t available, give us a call.

Checks for deposit must be payable to you or to Goldman Sachs Bank USA. Endorse the back of your check with your signature and “For Deposit Only at Goldman Sachs Bank USA” and include your correct account number on the check.

Be sure the check you deposit includes both a courtesy amount and legal amount. The courtesy amount is the numerical dollar amount (for example “$100”); the legal amount is the same amount, spelled out in words (for example, “one hundred dollars”). The courtesy amount and legal amount must match.

You may not deposit the following types of items:

• Money orders
• Third-party checks (checks made payable to someone other than you)
• Starter checks
• Temporary checks
• Double-endorsed checks (checks with more than one endorsement), exceptions may apply at branch
• Checks older than six (6) months
• Postdated checks
• Foreign checks
• Incomplete checks
• Traveler’s checks
• Counter checks
• Checks with restrictive legends (for example: “Void after 180 days”)
• Other items that we have from time to time, in our sole discretion, determined not to accept.
